Sun Star Bees

Trapouts

An example of a Trapout: A swarm of bees flies takes up residence in your apple tree. In order to get them out, I will build a funnel about two feet long and affix it to the tree over the entrance. This will let bees out, but they can’t get back in. Then I will bring over another Queen-less colony and place it right next to the opening. In about two weeks, the Queen comes out and moves into the new box. I take the colony away, and close the opening. This takes frequent checking during the process, because bees will find new entrances.

This method costs a flat fee of $350 for swarms in South East Portland. Other areas are available at additional travel cost.

This is a bee-friendly alternative to extermination.
